Creating art with textiles
I have always had a love of fabrics and textiles.
In 2016 I qualified in Machine Embroidery (City & Guilds Level 3) at Malvern School of Art and I am a founding member of the Fusion16 Textile Group, and a member of the Cotswold Embroiderers Guild.
I find the process of seeking out old fabrics and turning them into something new and exciting both very satisfying and therapeutic. There is a real sense of magic and mystery in old fabrics – who made them, where have they been, where has life’s journey taken them – and to be able to breathe new life into them once again by creating pieces of artwork is a joy and a privilege.
My inspiration comes from the environment all around us. I grow natural dye plants in my garden and use these to colour many of the fabrics in my work.
I am available for commissions and creating personal pieces of textile art inspired by photographs for occasions such as weddings & births.
I make original artworks, prints, greetings cards and indigo dyed shibori-stitched scarves.
